Cape Ann Savings Bank & BankGloucester Rallying Support for the F/V Lily Jean Fund

Gloucester, Massachusetts — On Friday, January 30, 2026, the Gloucester-based fishing vessel Lily Jean sank approximately twenty-two miles off Cape Ann, resulting in the tragic loss of seven crew members.

In response to this devastating event, the Gloucester Fishing Community Preservation Fund (GFCPF) has established the Lily Jean Fund to provide direct financial assistance to the families of those who perished.

The Lily Jean Fund accepts tax-deductible contributions, and 100% of all donations will be distributed in equal amounts to the seven impacted families.

Matching Gift Opportunity

An anonymous donor has pledged to match the first $40,000 contributed to the Lily Jean Fund, dollar for dollar. Donations of any size — whether given individually or collectively — will qualify toward this match until the full amount is reached.

Since news of the tragedy, there has been an overwhelming outpouring of support from the community and the regional maritime industry. The Lily Jean Fund provides a clear, trusted, and centralized way for individuals, businesses, and organizations to offer meaningful financial assistance directly to the families affected by this devastating loss.

Community members, businesses, and industry partners are encouraged to share information about the fund within their networks to help ensure broad awareness and participation.
