Description
Bringing the Past to Life
As part of our country's celebration of America250, The Battle of Gloucester Reenactment will commemorate a lesser-know skirmish on Cape Ann. History will come alive on the shores of Stage Fort Park as over 500 reenactors recreate the battle clashing on both land and sea.
"The Battle of Gloucester, though frequently eclipsed by more significant engagements, had profound and lasting implications. It exposed the weaknesses in British naval operations near the coast, bolstered local determination, and set in motion the development of a naval force poised to eventually contest British dominance at sea."
