Description
Commemorating 30 years of Ruf Records
Get Ready for an historic evening of Blues and Blues Rock, commemorating 30 years of Ruf Records with a star – studded celebration featuring the Grammy Award – nominated Samantha Fish, who has soared to the pinnacle of the Blues Rock scene with her fiery guitar skills and soulful vocals. Samantha started her career on Ruf Records, where she was given the creative freedom to grow and express herself, fostering an environment that allowed her unique sound to flourish. Samantha and her band will be joined on stage by the legendary Mitch Ryder. Known for one of the tightest and most hard – hitting blue – eyed soul acts of the 1960s, Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels broke out of the Motor City to become major stars, racking up five Top 30 singles over 1966 and 1967. Ryder’s influence reverberates through the blue – collar rock music of icons like Bob Seger, John Mellencamp, and Bruce Springsteen.
But first, witness the pioneers of Blues Rock, the legendary Canned Heat, playing their iconic hits including “Going Up the Country,” “Let’s Work Together,” and the band’s biggest hit “On the Road Again.” Hailing from Los Angeles, California, and formed in 1965, Canned Heat is among the unsung heroes of 60’s rock, famed as one of its best live acts and one of its most enduring forces. Featuring Adolfo “Fito” de la Parra, Dale Spalding, Rick Reed, and Jimmy Vivino, the band is currently touring in support of their new chart – topping Ruf Records release “Finyl Vinyl.” Canned Heat will be joined on stage by Bernard Allison. Allison is a Chicago native and is the youngest son of Luther Allison and longtime member of his father’s band. Allison has become a popular artist in his own right while faithfully keeping his dad’s musical legacy alive. Bernard and his father Luther are both Ruf Records artists.
To kick off the evening, Ruf Records’ rising star Ghalia Volt will bring her unique One Woman Band to the stage. Recently highlighted on “60 Minutes,” Ghalia blends traditional Blues with modern influences, and her innovative approach and authentic sound highlight her dedication to preserving and evolving the rich legacy of North Mississippi Blues.
