Description
Welsh singer-songwriter Martyn Joseph will return to the Old Sloop Presents performing arts series Friday, May 10. Dan Pallotta will open the show.
Martyn Joseph is a completely unique and mind-blowing artist. Take everything you think you know about singer songwriters….and rip it up. For one man and a guitar he creates a performance with a huge far-reaching sound that is energetic, compelling, and passionate. Be it to two hundred people or twenty thousand, he blows the crowd away night after night. He has the rare ability to speak to the soul with his expressive and poignant lyrics, and he has a career spanning 30 years, 32 albums, over a half a million record sales and thousands of live performances.
Dan Pallotta is returning to music after a 30-year hiatus. But those 30 years were spent in a most interesting and productive way. Dan led an organization that created the AIDSRides, the Breast Cancer 3-Day walks, and the Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention walks, raising some $600 million for those causes. He gave a popular TED talk about charitable giving, and he is a subject of the feature-length film UnCharitable. His songs are written with empathy for all those who suffer in the world, who struggle in the desert between their potential and their reality, their dream and their situation.
The performance will take place at 7:30pm in the handicap-accessible Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church of Rockport, 12 School St.
