Description
Congratulations to Rosaria Giambanco-Floyd, of Soft Touch Salon,
our 2019 Gloucester Small Business Person of the Year!
Join us to celebrate Rose!
Rosaria Floyd
Clients and friends came out in droves on a nasty and icy December night to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Soft Touch Hair Salon. This is a heartwarming testament to the community's respect and affection for Rose Floyd.
Rose's tremendous following is due in part, of course, to her creativity and skill with the scissors -in her chair, you can get a Newbury Street hair cut at Whittemore Street, Gloucester prices! But with Rose,
it's more than getting a wash, cut and blow dry. She takes the time to get to know you and celebrates your triumphs and commiserates with you over your hard times. Loyal to the bone, she can be fiercely protective and is also not above giving you some "tough love" when you need it.
Somehow she manages to do all this while being attentive to your needs (a cup of tea, a glass of wine, your favorite magazine, a comfortable seat) and giving you that haircut that leaves you feeling like a million bucks!
Crediting her parents with instilling in her and her sisters, Sefatia Romeo-Theken, Marianne Paquette and Grace Giambanco Numerosi, and brother Anthony Giambanco a strong sense of community service, Rose donates her time to go to the homes of the elderly or other home-bound community members. You also see her out and about all year-round volunteering at various community events. "We were raised in the spirit of helping others, helping your neighbors, helping senior citizens;' she says.
"It's amazing the results when you give a little;' said Floyd. "It's about making people feel good about themselves. In my case, I can help out as a hairdresser. Hair is the soul of everything. Everybody's special and should be treated as special.”
Rose understands the importance of giving back to her community. She is a regular volunteer at the Grace Center in Gloucester and works with cancer clients at Soft Touch Salon.
