Description
Sea level rise threatens the viability of coastal habitats in Massachusetts and throughout the region. Projections indicate that many salt marshes will lose much of their high marsh habitat or worse, possibly convert to open water in the coming decades. In this presentation, Trustees Coastal Project Manager Alejandra Narváez, will discuss how restoration efforts can help improve the resilience of this critical habitat. Alejandra will discuss results from completed restoration work and share details on The Trustees’ ongoing salt marsh restoration efforts in the Great Marsh, along with further resilience work underway in other areas of the state.
About our speaker: Alejandra Narváez is the Coastal Project Manager for The Trustees of Reservations. Alejandra has a master’s degree in Agricultural Ecology from Harper Adams University (UK) and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science and biology from Wellesley College. Alejandra joined The Trustees in August of 2023 and brings prior project and grant management experience within environmental non-profits. At The Trustees, Alejandra manages many of the organization’s coastal ecological restoration projects, focusing on salt marsh restoration and barrier beach resilience work throughout Trustees properties on the coast.
