SUMMARY:Talking Walls of Gloucester – City Hall Murals and Tower Tours
DESCRIPTION:Join the Gloucester Committee for the Arts onSaturday September 19th and Sunday September 20th for a free tour of the stunning WPA murals on the walls inside City Hall.  On both days the City Hall Restoration Commission also will be offering free tours of the City Hall Tower.On Saturday\, a guided tour of the murals will be offered\, led by artist and art historian Susan Erony. Ms. Erony will provide background on the federal WPA programs of the 1930s\, during which these murals were painted\, as well as information about the paintings and the artists.  On Sunday\, the murals will be available for self-guided tours.  Wall text describing the murals is mounted for each piece.  Gloucester has one of New England's best collections of WPA murals\, many located in their original settings.  On both days City Hall will be open from Noon   3 pm.Gloucester's City Hall Restoration Commission will be offering tours of the City Hall Tower beginning at noon.On Ms.  Saturday the guided lecture/tour for the murals will begin at 1:15 pm.ReservatioMs.ns are not required.  Gloucester City Hall is located at the corner of Dale Avenue and Warren Street (main entrance).  With the exception of the tower\, the building is handicapped accessible by the ADA entryway on Dale Avenue.
