SUMMARY:Windhover- Joe Mulholland Quartet with Stan Strickland
DESCRIPTION:Stan Strickland is a unique multi-instrumentalist/vocalist/movement artist whose artistry defies categorization. He brings joy and depth to every musical event. Stan has toured nationally and internationally\, he is a beloved figure wherever he goes. Mixing jazz\, Latin and African influences\, his warmth of sound and personality are unparalleled. On tenor and soprano sax and flute\, Stan communicates directly to the audience through the horn\; when he sings\, you cannot help but be moved. \n\nJoe Mulholland is a pianist\, accompanist\, jazz composer and arranger with a large discography and long history in the Boston-area jazz and popular music scene. Joe loves to play hard swinging jazz\, gentle bossa nova\, funky R'n'B and blues\, and the entire Great American Songbook catalog from the 30's to the 70's. Expect to hear a little of each at this concert.\n\nJohn Lockwood is the most highly regarded jazz bassist in the entire Northeast\, and the musical equal of any national or international big name. He has toured internationally for 50 years\, and recorded on dozens of albums by the best performers in the jazz idiom. Quite simply\, the perfect bass player.\n\nBob Tamagni is a passionate\, highly musical drummer renowned for his sensitivity\, drive and joy of musical expression. He does not hit the drums\, he plays them! Bob and Joe have played together in different groups for over 25 years\, so the rhythmic connection is deeply intuitive. \n\nThis incredible quartet will lift your spirits and inspire you with their interaction and creativity. It is jazz for everyone!
