SUMMARY:Fireside Chat Speaker Series: Gloucester's Antique Homes & History
DESCRIPTION:Join us Monday\, February 25th at 6:30pm for our Fireside Chat Speaker Series. Engage in conversation about Gloucester's Antique Homes and History with Prudence Fish.\n\n \n\nFor 40 years Prudence Fish has been immersed in Gloucester's architectural history\, particularly houses. She has given numerous talks and classes during this time. For more than twenty-five years she was a Realtor\, one of only two or three in Essex County specializing in antique and historic houses. She also ran classes for Realtors in Massachusetts architecture and how to sell historic houses. Currently she is a member of the Gloucester Historic District Commission\, and a member of the Saunders House Stewardship Committee. She is also on an advisory board for MARS\, the Manship Artists Residences and Studios\, a group that is restoring the estate of Paul Manship as a retreat for artists and sculptors. \n\n \n\nHistoric and antique houses have been Prudence Fish's passion for most of her life. After college she taught school in CT\, married\, and had three children. Her summers were always spent in Gloucester but in 1971 a visit to Newburyport convinced her to make a move to that city of wonderful early houses being restored at the time the downtown was also being restored. Her knowledge of historic architecture increased in that rich environment. She later became a year-round resident of Gloucester\, a founder of the Gloucester Preservation Committee\, a member of the Historic District Commission and author of "Antique Houses of Gloucester". The book was followed by a blog\, "Antique Houses of Gloucester and Beyond". She is dedicated to the preservation of Gloucester houses as well as researching the history of Gloucester buildings and neighborhoods. \n\n \n\nSpace is limited\, so please reserve your spot today for this FREE event by emailing our Concierge at concierge@beauporthotel.com. Be sure to mention your name and how many people will be attending. Light refreshments will be served. We hope you will join us for an engaging and lively discussion!
