SUMMARY:Essex Shipbuilding Museum Opening Day & Boat Launch!
DESCRIPTION:Essex\, MA June 01 2023 The Essex Historical Society & Shipbuilding Museum Student Shipbuilders are proud to announce the completion of their latest project - a Caribbean Skiff!\n\nThe boat\, a rebuilt Caribbean Skiff owned by a local family\, was constructed by a team of students from the Topsfield Vocational Academy (TVA). TVA is an alternative middle/high school for students who aren't traditional classroom learners with a hands-on curriculum designed to prepare them for life and careers. The boat is a testament to their dedication\, creativity\, and teamwork.\nThe launch of this Caribbean Skiff marks the culmination of months of hard work and dedication by the students involved in the project. The boat was built from scratch using sustainable materials and traditional shipbuilding techniques. Much of the lumber was locally sourced from right here in Essex! The final product is a stunning vessel that is both beautiful and functional. The boat's compact size and lightweight design make it easy to transport\, and its durable construction ensures that it will provide years of enjoyment for its owners.\n\n\n\nThe students who worked on the Caribbean Skiff are excited to see their project come to fruition. "Building this boat was an incredible experience\," said Jude\, one of the project leaders. "We learned so much about engineering\, design\, and teamwork\, and we're thrilled to see our hard work pay off with the launch of this beautiful boat." \n\nThe launch of the Caribbean Skiff is a significant achievement for the students at the Shipbuilding Museum\, and it demonstrates the school's commitment to continuation of the craft and culture that this small town was built on. The Launch party will take place on the same day as the Museum's opening day for 2023. Thursday June 01 at 10am!\n \n\nFor more information\, please contact KD Montgomery at KD@essexshipbuilding.org.\n \n\nCongratulations to the Student Shipbuilders on this impressive accomplishment!
