DESCRIPTION:Annex Contemporary Dance Company\, the Southern Maine Seacoast's premiere dance troupe\, brings an exciting afternoon of original dance to the Windhover Performing Arts Center outdoor stage.\n \n\nThe thrilling program includes a collection of new and repertory works by Artistic Director Julie Hebb\, originally from Massachusetts and former principal dancer with NYC's Rebecca Kelly Ballet. Utilizing contemporary ballet and modern dance forms\, Hebb's choreography explores the dancers' relationship to diverse musical scores and to one another   investigating what pulls people together and drives them apart.\n\n Hebb's "A Day in the Life\," set to a rhythmic\, electronic soundscape\, finds dancers moving through the rituals and complexities of daily life\, often with humor and harmony\, and at times\, with an edge of discord and discomfort. In contrast\, the lively ballet "Three Preludes" invites the dancers to play and interact with Gershwin's brilliant piano score. "Bach Suite" is a collection of sweeping solos\, duets\, and trios that respond to the composer's beautiful chamber music in new\, expressive ways.\n\nFounded in 2015\, ACDC aims to engage the finest movement artists in the Seacoast area\, and to bring impactful\, professional work to local audiences\, building community through education and outreach. In addition to evening-length productions\, the company has toured throughout New England and has collaborated with many local and visiting artists and musicians from New England\, New York City\, and beyond.
