SUMMARY:An Event to Benefit the Sarah Lufkin Memorial Scholarship Fund
DESCRIPTION:After a hiatus last year\, the Lufkin Family will be hosting this event to raise money for the Sarah Lufkin Memorial Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student who has graduated from the Manchester Essex School District and will be studying in a field that has a direct affect on children. Sarah Lufkin passed away in 1997 from complications from treatment for Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. After treatment for two years beginning in 1994\, she went back to Salem State College to continue her studies in Early Childhood Education part time and made the Dean's List that semester before coming out of remission and having a bone marrow transplant in March of 1997. Sadly\, the treatment didn't work and she passed away in April. We (the family) continue her legacy through this scholarship set up by friends shortly after she passed\, by giving this award to a student who closely resembles Sarah's drive and determination to continue her education even through adversity. Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door the night of the event. There will be a cash bar\, food\, music\, Silent Auction\, Raffle and 50/50. Donations of goods and services welcome for the event to Benefit the Sarah Lufkin Memorial Scholarship Fund. The event takes place on Sunday\, January 28\, 2018 and donated items will be raffled off or put on the Silent Auction. If you would like to make a donation\, please call either Sue Lufkin at 978-768-7122\, Kim Lufkin Williams at 978-853-0845 or Laurie Lufkin at 978-985-6532.
